Emergency plans fail in the details: phone numbers that no longer answer, muster points that moved with site layout, response roles assigned to people who left the project. A credible ERP is short enough to maintain and specific enough to execute at 03:00.
Scenarios before structure
Start from the credible events for this site — fire, medical emergency, vehicle incident, H2S release where applicable, severe weather — and write the response sequence for each. Then assign roles, alarm methods, escalation and external contacts. Structure follows scenarios, not the reverse.
Drills are the audit trail
A drill schedule with records — date, scenario, observations, improvement actions — is what separates a plan from a document. Clients increasingly ask for the last two drill reports in tenders; contractors who run one drill per credible scenario per year always have an answer.
